August 4, 1945 Trinidad Dear Dad & Mom: It's my day off and I was going to town but our barracks didnt pass inspection so I couldnt get my pass. Dont mind too much I can probably go next week didnt have anything in particular to do but would have liked to have shopped around a little, want to find something for the nephews. I sent you a package today Mom, some sox and the little cameo I got in Naples just before I left there. Should get there pretty quick for I sent it first class mail. It sure is a nuisance first you take it to the post office wrap it but dont seal it have it weighed and get the stamps, carry it back to the squadron have the C.O censor it then wrap it up for mailing and carry it back to the post office and mail it. Think i'll go to the show this evening if its good, dont know just what is playing and unless it's good I wont bother
