August 6, 1945 Trinidad Dear Dad + Mom: Have just been to dinner, ducked out between showers and just got a little wet. Right now the sun is shining bright thats how quick the weather can change, a cloud as big as a postage stamp can mean a regular gulley washer. Most of the boys are buying new shoes at the P.X. very good ones too but so far they havent had any my size. Will buy some if they do have for I'll need them if I ever get away from here. They are eight + a half so should be rather good. When is the fair this year, about the third week in August as usual or is it earlier this year. Dont think I'll bother to go again this year quite a way to come especially traveling conditions being what they are. Im glad Mary Nagle is available to help you Mom, she must be a lot of entertainment besides her help. Everyone used to get such a kick out of what Ray said + did and she seems to have the same eccentricities. I can just picture [illegible] Granger when he got word Bob was coming home, it's nice he
