Saving...
August 8, 1945 Trinidad Dear Dad + Mom: Everyone is all excited about the new atomic bomb we've been hearing so much about over the radio the past two days. It is certainly revolutionary to say the least. Terrible to think about but perhaps a way of shortening up the war. The principle should have a lot of peace time adaptions so it may be the greatest discovery to date. If that release of energy can be harnessed I reckon there is no limit to it's uses. have to attend another meeting today we have a sort of Open Forum every Wednesday when the mews highlights of the past week are brought up + hashed over. Really quite interesting. Got two letters from you today and one from my old friend [Riley?], she is in Anchorage Alaska now working in the offices of the Alaska R.R. She's been up there for over two months. Her letter was very interesting, told about the country etc. I still want to go up there someday. It was nice Bob + Gene [Alcorn?] met in England for a visit so Bob is going to France now he must live out of a packed bag for he does nothing but travel about. He'll have lots of travel stories to tell when he gets home to stay.
