Saving...
August 11, 1945 Trinidad Dear Dad & Mom: Well I dont get my day off, effective today there will be no more days off until certain departments catch up with their work, while ours wasnt one of them we must suffer also. We're restricted anyhow probably because of the momentous war news expected, everyone on pass last night was recalled to the base. Suppose I can get one later on so it shouldnt matter much. We heard the noon newscast with the latest developments on the surrender. Dont know whether the Japs will accept the compromise or not but cant see they have much to say. If it wasnt for the sacrifice of our own men I think i'd be hard enough to finish the Japs off so thoroughly they couldnt create another disturbance for many years. Wonder once it is all over how long it will take to get the soldiers & sailors who arent needed back home. I'm certainly not going to make myself any more essential than I can help. Got your letter today written on Mrs Woods' special stationary, they are quite nice a letter from home is good tho no matter what it is written on. I'll get you a bill fold Dad, as soon as they get some more nice ones in, may buy one
