Saving...
August 18, 1945 Trinidad Dear Dad & Mom: I've changed shifts and have worked today, went to work last night but they sent us back to the barracks. Made a good days rest and I got three letters written. Should write some more tonight but someone else has the desk and its a job to write holding your paper on your lap especially a fat one. We werent very busy today I'm sure I didnt earn my pay but Im not going to give them a rebate when pay day comes. Some of our fellows are leaving here to go on a new project but none of my immediate buddies. Came to the barracks right after work, showered & changed clothes which always makes a fellow feel refreshed and good. They have built us some new clothes racks & shelves in our barracks but as yet there are no rods for hanging clothes so are of little use. I got a hold of a big box about six feet high so I dont need anything but I presume they'll make me throw it out for it destroys the uniformity which they strive for. You should see my moustache now, I let the ends grow long and it curls up, a regular handle bar one. Maybe looks like Jerry Colonas at least it's different, will probably bob it one of these days down to the normal size.
