Saving...
August 21, 1945 Trinidad Dear Dad & Mom: Got a pass yesterday so missed writing, went in about ten A.M., ate at the U.S.O and wandered around all afternoon. Came back for supper then went bowling, I'm not good at it for it's a game which takes practice I did beat the other guys but we were all very bad. Today we're all excited for we've heard all men with over eighty five points will be discharged very soon, a matter of a month or so. I can scarcely believe it and wont until I actually get orders to that effect. Sounds wonderful tho. I'm surprised there arent more fellows having the points but there arent so many. For all the good I'm doing here I'd better be at home. Got lots of mail yesterday & today three letters from you and one from Austin W. Yes I got the war news the same time you did. My celebration was certainly different from yours, think the parades I saw were more interesting. Glad you took a nice ride hope if I should get home soon I'll get to see the leaves in color. Sure hope that frost holds off and we get a good corn crop.
