August 22, 1945 Trinidad Dear Dad & Mom: I'm quite encouraged on this eighty five point discharge stuff. This afternoon two of the boys from the old bunch who are in another squadron came over to the hangar and told us they were on the list to go. They have no more points than I have and certainly have jobs as essential as mine. This evening I went to the orderly room to check up and it is a definite fact that the list is being made up and there's no reason why I shouldnt be on it. It is also a case of prompt discharge once the states are reached. This thing is moving fast and if things work out right you may be seeing me soon. It will be a disappointment if something doesnt come of it. Kept quite busy today tho not at a killing pace. We are handy to a P.X. and are allowed to take a break for a coke mornings and afternoons so that makes the day pass quickly. There is a bunch that gathers in the barracks next to mine every night and rehearse a play and sing for some special service program coming up soon. They are quite a
