August 23, 1945 Trinidad Dear Dad & Mom Have just come from the movie "Meet Me in St. Louis" dont know when I've enjoyed a show so much, in fact I havent seen many the past months. Was certainly pretty and gay. It rained very hard while I was there and the walking coming back was muddy but G.I. shoes can take it. The moon is out bright again now and the sky is clear of clouds, doesnt seem possible a few minutes ago it was pouring. No further news about discharges today but everyone is expecting something to break very soon. I'm hoping & holding my breath. Got your letter today written down in the pasture, so you had lots of company down there. Makes a nice spot for a picnic thats sure. Glad the oats turned out so well, cant beat it for feed. You should have a nice holstein herd out there now, all those nice heifers coming on you can cull out the old ones and light milkers. Yes it would be fine if Anton could get a milker so they could handle more cows with less work.
