August 25, 1945 Trinidad Dear Dad + Mom: Got the shower clogs today, thanks for sending them also got the Des Moines paper and a letter from you so I faired very well. Dont have to work tomorrow, we now get every sixth day off same racket, etc. Havent decided whether to go to town or not but rather think I'll just loaf around + take it easy. can write some letters, wash some clothes and do some other things I dont get a chance to do when I'm working. No I havent seen Mrs. Johnsons nephew, perhaps I wouldnt recognize him tho for it's a long time since I used to see him around town, visiting Carl. It's a pretty big place too so I could easily not see him, the field is strung out over a lot of ground and there are others stationed in town. I'll bet the automobile exhibit was a sorry sight this year at that. Read in the Time magazine that army jeeps would be sold soon for one thousand and fifty dollars. That's the most ridiculous thing I ever heard of, a price like that for such a vehicle. Of course there will be a scarcity of auto's for awhile but I
