Saving...
August 30, 1945 Trinidad Dear Dad + Mom: Just came fro chow, shed my clothes down to shorts and will try and write a little. Food was lousy had stew again but same bean soup which was quite good. Can hit the sandwich shop later. The supply man gave me some extra shorts today, he had some over and I was glad to get them. Are a little tight but can make out with them. Not very busy again today but have work for tomorrow, got a rush of engine [hanges?] which ate into our reserve in a hurry. It's better to help hurry tho as long as a guy has to be here. Tomorrow is the big day, pay day. This month has passed rapidly as I look back. Get ours in the afternoon I think
