May 5, 1945 Italy Dear Dad & Mom -- Must try and get this written before the lights go out so will have to hurry for it's getting late. Showered & shaved after supper and listened to the Lucky Strike Hit Parade. I'm getting a good tan, went without a shirt again this afternoon for it was really warm. The grass and flowers are beginning to dry out all ready and some of the grain fields are starting to change color. I've had three V-mails and an air mail letter from you the past two days, came thru in pretty good time. Sorry [Alta?] didnt think much of trading farm land with Dad but perhaps it's all right. Sure glad Aunt Cora heard from Francis since she got the missing in action notice. It does seem a shame the way things have gone at Grandma's but maybe everything will work out okay. Didnt think Ralph was quite such a guy and dont believe he will be any better off for his scheming in the end. I seem to have lost a bundle of laundry but it may turn up. Hope so, but soon for I'm going to have to wash my shorts to make out until I can get some more. So Milan has been switched to twenty nines, to bad he doesnt like it better, to me an
