May 11, 1945 Italy Dear Dad & Mom: Just came from the shower, must be eight oclock and it's light enough yet to see without the lights on. Its real summery here certainly not like the weather you report back home. My posies havent done anything only one morning glory came up and none of the nasturtiums. Got three letters tonight one nice air mail from you, one from Mrs. Lynch and one from Laura Mae Carpenter. Reckon it was nice of her to write. Just a little cheer she's spreading among service men no doubt. Boy have we got a corny program on the radio it's a talent program and very little talent as near as I can figure out. More power to the guys for trying but the best of their singing is the rests. My laundry I thought was lost turned up so I'm well fixed for clothes again. My laundry bag was turned inside out and I was looking for a blue one and overlooked the funny grey looking one which had my tag on it. Some of the natives graze their horses near camp and the other noon one of the fellows caught one and tried to ride it. The horse showed
