May 18, 1945 italy Dear Dad & Mom: Havent been too busy today, worked awhile and took it easy the rest of the day. Read awhile, some short stories about dogs & took a nap this afternoon. Im pretty well pleased with the way things are going, of course I cant tell you anything but I think I'll be satisfied. Must get a haircut I'm beginning to look like a collie dog. Have been up to the service club after one, twice but there were long lines both times so I didnt wait. Our barbers arent nearly so good as little Danny used to be. Guess I wont see Bobby Hieserman have looked for him, but am afraid he wont get over. Perhaps he wasnt located so close to me as I thought. No mail tonight, wasnt much for the whole squadron, one fellow got an air mail letter in only four days that is certainly troubling isnt it. Thought I could write a little but there just doesnt seem a thing to say -- Love Johnny
