Saving...
we go into Naples and catch the Pompeii tour at the Red Cross. Had ice cream & cokes at the snack bar and listened to an Italian orchestra for awhile. Saw quite a number of fellows I had known in the old outfit and some crew members which had gone down in enemy territory and are now awaiting shipment home. This place is as busy as a down town street corner with G.I's wandering in looking for someone, a magazine, a place to sit down and write or just aimlessly wandering about. Downtown they have pool tables & ping pong but the facilities are always overtaxed. Guess no one can settle down for there is an air of restlessness and excitement among the fellows going home or sweating out a reassignment to another base or theatre of operations. The snack bar is going to open soon and I think I'll go down and get some cookies and coffee for our breakfast wasnt very good, we've had powdered eggs three mornings straight and "that aint good." The coffee is free & a nickel buys two cookies or a dip of ice cream, it's a nice service and the fellows really appreciate it I think. Should try and write a couple of more letters so will stop with this much -- Love Johnny Keep writing to the same address until I send a new one.
