June 20, 1945 Trinidad Dear Dad & Mom: Another quiet day, little doing, just laying around waiting and wondering what they are going to do with us. I hate this sort of thing not knowing what the next move will be etc. At least it wont be to the Pacific so thats a consolation. And then we all tell ourselves there is a small chance of going to the states. Had some bananas right off the bush yesterday and they werent so bad. A native boy comes around with them and they cost very little. Hadnt had any for a long time so it was a treat. This noon we had a good meal, roast beef & fresh potatoes, we should get lots more fresh meat down here for they have fine storage facilities and it isnt far to transport the stuff. Noticed a big freezing plant in my wanderings yesterday.
