June 21, 1945 Trinidad Dear Dad & Mom: First day of summer and it really feels like it down here. Hope at home you are having it warm too tho a bit more moderate than here. Well I guess I'm stuck down here for awhile a bunch of us were assigned to this base unit and from what I've heard it isnt nearly so bad as many of the surrounding bases to which we might have gone. Do hope our bunch stays in the same squadron or division but dont know as yet. Im afraid I may lose my rating or part of it for probably wont have the same job I did. Dont care for the stripes but will miss the pay. Was raining a minute ago and as I just glanced out the sun is out as bright as can be. That's how it is here no one wears a raincoat for you get wet & dry out within every hour. The
