Dear Dad & Mom:
Yesterday was a big day, moved to another area, got assigned, and in the afternoon took a pass and went to Port au Spain. Am with several of the old gang in a good barracks and work with them in the engine build up department which is the work I wanted and enjoy the most. The town is much as Brad described it to you. Cleaner than most Italian towns but lacking a lot by comparison with a town at home. There is a lot of that iron grill work on balconies and it reminded me quite a lot of the French quarter in New Orleans. The natives are very friendly and all colors and variations between. Found a pretty good place to eat and learned of a couple of spots I must see before I leave here. The governors palace and botanical gardens are very worth while
