June 30, 1945 Trinidad Dear Dad & Mom: Just got soaked coming from chow but that's a common occurrance down here and then I'll be dry in a few minutes. We have to change into our khakis for the evening meal which is a nuisance. The mail from home comes thru pretty fast got a letter yesterday that only took three days on the way hope mine gets thru as quick. My work is getting along okay get kind of tired it's been so long since I've put in a days work. In a week or two tho I wont notice it. I like my hours fine. I get off plenty early to shower and clean up before I got eat then I have a good evening to read. The days are noticeably shorter down here close to the equator than at home this time of year. At six thirty in the evening it's dark and it isnt daylight until
