after five. One of my friend left for home yesterday on an emergency furlough, his sister is quite ill so it's not a pleasant homecoming for him. He will fly home so will be there in a few hours, his home is in Wisconsin. Expect by the time you get this letter it will be fourth of July dont believe I'll celebrate anyplace this year, perhaps next one. Wonder if you folks are going to Minneapol. I know you mentioned it once a while back. Be sure to go if you'd enjoy it I'm sure no one wastes less gas than you folks do. Tell Miss Dillard I saw the Pope, waited for an hour or more. He holds an audience with a group of soldiers every noon. Makes a little speech and bestows his blessing on the group. He is in rather poor health and does not always come out but on the day I was there he did, tho we thought for awhile he wasnt coming.
