is heartbreaking, and I feel a thousand years old tonight. I don't think I can leave here before Sunday, but I'll come as soon as I can. Mama sends you her love, and lots of messages that I can't write you. Please do not make me afraid of you when I come. It is going to be bad enough without that. I mean - it's very unusual - such a galop across country - and not at all in my line. I love you devotedly. Yours - Daphne.
