hard for the infrity to go out on picket now and stay 3 or 4 days to a time with out tents. You said that Mrs Mead had not got any letter from Lafo yet. I have wrote tow letters for him and he has sent them to her and he has not got a letter from her yet. I don't blame him for not writeing to them for he dont get any answer from them he has been waiting for a letter from them this good while, but I must bring this to a close but I forgot to tell you what they are doeing here. They are cutting 3 miltary roads from the road that we are camped on that is the fairfax road to the Pickets. When the roads get so they are passable there will be a advance made. The roads are 4 rods wide. Excuse me this time try and do better next time write as soon as you get this and let me know about the money so good by from your son C A G U S A
