Saving...
Fort Richardson VA June the 22 1862 Dear father and mother, I once more take my pen in hand to let you know that I am alive and well I am well and hope you are the same. It is a fine summer morning here. 2 weeks ago today we were doeing(sic) all we could do to drive the rebels back. I do not know whether we shall have to do so today or not we are all setting around the guns some laying down, but I set on the guns platform and am trying to write a few lines to you and Mother. I have not received any letter from you since we crosse [sic. crossed] the river but look for one evry [sic. every] day. Since I write last our Division has built a Redoubt or forts and a long line of brest works [sic. breastworks] and fortified our batty [sic. Battery] as three section of it are in Fort Richardson here and 2 guns or 1 section, are station [sic. stationed] on the railroad just about 40 rods from Fair Oaks station and Fort Richardson is on the left
