for 10 miles it will cost a great many lives to take them all for not having bridges here.  But father I must hury and write you must excuse this letter for I have 
to write it by the light of the fire for we have no time to write in the day time.  I have not written any of the pictular.    
We expect to go at it again tomorrow. 
Sigel has come up to night with 60,000 men. Dewitt Matthew was  here to day, C. Co of their Reg. are down here guarding the R.R. Warren has had tow  of fingers cut off.  I have not heard from Lon yet. This is all I have got time to write now.  I will write more when we get where I 
can, so good by
