he will doe [sic. do] a great thing an if it takes him longer it will be as well. It is very warm weather here now. We have had no rain since the night we came from United States ford. It has not been very sickly here yet and I hope it will not be as sickly as it was last summer on the Peninsula. I got a letter from Samuel & Emma last night. We got payed [sic. paid] off for tow [sic. two] month Wensday [sic. Wednesday]. Lafayette has sent $10 by the way of Baldwinsville. You need not go after it till we send money again unless you have business that way. This is all I can think of this time. Write soon from your son C A Gates
