When I wrote he wanted me to 
let you know that he had received 
yours and one from Samuel & Emma & one from Warren A Burges.
He said he was not abel [sic. able] to 
answer them now but he would 
when he got abel [sic. able] Amos was 
well.  I haven't much news to write 
today.  Our troops are still on 
the other side of the river and 
there is skirmishing goeing [sic. going] on all 
the time.  We have got another 
Lieutenant.  He was asigned [sic. assigned] to 
our battery day before yestday [sic. yesterday].
Lieu. Underhill our old Lieu. 
that was wounded at Chancelorville [sic. Chancellorsville] 
is like to lose his life.  The 
bolt that went in to his leg was 
a Iron ball from a sharpnell [sic. shrapnel] 
an it went in to his leg above 
the knee and hit the bone and
