He hasen't [sic. hasn't] felt very well for a few day back but he is better Now. We are having very warm weather here now, it is pretty warm marching, but we haven't marched over 10 miles a day since we came in to Virginia the last time but we done some tall marching when we left Virginia for M.D. & P.A. I think we will go to Warrenton to morrow. I can't think of any more to write this time so I will bring these few lines to a close. Write as soon an every time you get time give my best respect to all inquireing [sic. inquiring] friends so good by from your son C A Gates Battery B 1st N.Y. Arty 2d Corps Army of Potomac
