men and accomplishes nothing he is reliecked of his command and goes to Washington draws half pay all the time if there is any political business goeing on he has a hand in if there is a good (?) job he gets it but things are different here from what they were 6 months ago father you spoke about Edwards thinking he did not get enough for his time let him try soldering about 1 week when we are on the march where we march night and day with nothing but 2 or 3 hard bread and a little coffy made out of water that a horse would not drink then he would be glad of a home without any pay let alone sickness and the battles he would have to go through
