Twenty-three. (Coises!) March 1, 1918. Old Recollections: "The day was warm; the sky was blue "The maiden told him to skidoo "To this he said he would agree "If she would also twenty-three." Which is not at all pertinent -- or expressive of the fact that this is the end of a turr'ble day. My two balks with the pen so far have a reason. I'm done in. Jever take an all-day examination. That is what I've been through. It was writing all morning and map work of the most tedious sort imaginable all afternoon. Got amighty-fatigued head tonight as the result. But it's all over! Tomorrow morning we'll have a nice friendly little post-mortem over the examination. Tomorrow afternoon we'll pack up our belongings. And tomorrow evening we'll be back in our billets at G.H.Q. -- billets that are all the author of that jingle painted them,
