me for another whole day and night which means I must sleep with Ruby again tonight. Last night I was still awake at two A.M. (perfectly sensible, but a bit over-het) so I pulled Ruby out of bed and made her walk up and down the halls in the dark. Then we climbed out on the roof and stayed out there a long time. It was lovely, and there was the nicest frog concert going on somewhere near. I very much fear Ruby wasn't interested in anything except her fear of getting covered with soot, but lan' sakes, I figured on at least one more bath before I die. What you say about the bathing facilities in France is a bit upsetting. One can't always do with a tea up, surely. How can they keep clean? Some one banging on my door.
