were single and not in love - but I have nevertheless respected her highly as long as I have known her. I believe you will like her in much the same way that I like Zim. You may be sure I'll like your friend Elizabeth and her husband. Won't we have fun having them and other folks come to see us? Do you know dearest, I have a hunch that you and I can establish a way of entertaining our friends that will make them rather enthusiastic about us. I've been fooling along between writing this and playing with the fire in my tea-cup stove until it is almost midnight. I wish you could see the stove. It is a splendid specimen of the crazy sort of thing the French call a stove - merely an iron box with tile or terra cotta or some kind of glazed crockery around it and a stovepipe the size of my arm.
