letter. The contents might shock some modest young officer because I'm quite sure that I mentioned being in love with you. It's lots of fun playing we are only engaged, only I couldn't love you so unreservedly if that were the case. Mother "Good" sends her love to her soldier son. She always does, in fact. I wrote Mother Reynolds as soon as your wire came announcing your orders. She must have it by now. And now I'm going to crawl into bed. I'm tired -- been at work since seven thirty and gave two lessons after dinner tonight. I love you, my dearest. I kiss your dear lips ten thousand mad times!! Your very own -- Daphne.
