Jewell Dade, who has just come since Christmas, remarked that she was the only one of the family who could inherit property; her pa is a lawyer and she guessed she knew. It reminded me of the telegram you sent home, and to relieve my own embarrassment I told on you. You could stand it, not being here. We all laughed at you and then Fern Hall said, "Oh well, Jew, we'll see that they don't have a durned thing left for you to inherit." I suppose you think this is a queer way for a teacher and students to talk, but even if it is, there isn't a teacher in college who has better luck when it comes to discipline.
