Sixteen 17 February, 1918. Ma plus chere femme, - This salutation to entertain my table mates when they cast careless glances at what I'm writing. From the looks o' 'em I don't think they will comprendre it. Of course, I'd just as soon they would know that you are the dearest wife I have, but they'll have more fun if they have to guess what I mean. I'm at the Y again. 'Tis Sunday in the late afternoon. Seats are at a premium in every room in the house. They have been so all day. It is a bit too chilly for extended walks, so this the only comfortable loafing place in town is the rendez-vous of officers from the colonels down.
