Saving...
Number nine. February 24, 1918. Dearest Father and Mother, It is now more than a month since I left the states - and I have heard nothing from you. Three of the fellows received mail yesterday. Some of their letters had been sent as late as January 30. I am hoping to share their luck within a few days. I read in today's papers that Mr. Burleson has complacently told Congress that there is nothing wrong with the mail service. I don't swallow that. There must be something out of whack or it would not take from a month on for letters to make a trip that should require not more than two weeks. However, I suppose we are fortunate to have any mail service. How about it Dad, did you get mail with any regularity in the war of the 60's?
