find the guests seated at two long tables, large family style. You take your places, and the good things begin to come. My friends of last night had been going there often and had gotten well into the good graces of the house force. Expecting them, madame had prepared a special soup. It was made of potatoes and onions and tapioca, thick and delicious. Followed scrambled eggs a la saucisson, baked potatoes with fresh butter, tongue, cheese, fruit, and nuts, each served in a separate course, in the usual French fashion. We went to the cinema afterward and saw Charlie Chaplin who is "Charlot" over here, and a fine war picture. It was fun to listen to the French people laugh and yell at Chaplin's antics. In this they were much encouraged by the American soldiers, of whom there were many in the theater. Between reels we amused ourselves
