6 rain kept coming down and went over to the camp of the N.J. 4th regiment and were joined by a couple of companies from Mass and marched out towards Fairfax about 6 or 7 miles to Baileys Cross roads where we stoped throwed out pickets and our company took quarters in an old Blacksmith shop for the night some 60 of us in all but by putting some boards up over head and part of us sleeping up there we got along very comfortable in the morning after taking our breakfast which was simply a few hard sea biscuits and a cup of coffee we had orders to march back about a mile and a half to where we crossed the railroad and
