Forty-two April 2, 1918. Dear Li'l Friend Wife,- Can't you tell I'm having a perfectly good time today cleaning up and getting everything in trim for the next cook's tour? There is so little else to do that I feel free to scribble. I've accordingly slipped down to the club where there is a cozy writing room. What an orful, orful dream that was you had about me! Really, you must quit eating mince pie just before you go to bed. I can sympathize with you, though; I've had some hair raisin' nightmares myself in which you were concerned. Believe me, it is a relief to wake up and realize that actuality is all right and better. Two nights ago, though, I had a beautiful dream about
