Fifty-eight. April 19, 1918. Sugar Molasses,- Arrived! One large, healthy box of candy. It was promising when it first appeared, but since then it has failed rapidly. I think consumption is the trouble. With a half dozen officers looking on when the mail came I had no chance to be selfish even if I had wanted to. I cut the strings and passed the box. There was joy in our town at once. It's delicious stuff, girl, luxurious! A thousand thanks! Came also four letters from you and one from mother and the letter from Mr. McChesney. I've read the letter from Mr. McChesney and yours of March
