May 30 1943  Dearest:  This being memorial day we had a special service for the boys that have gone on in this war and I know you did something for dad and mothers groves.  I am getting along good  am in the best of health,  I would like to get a letter from home  it has been over two months since the last.  the mail may catch up with me some time.  I have traveled around a lot  I have saw plenty of action and came through without getting hurt at all.  I have been swimming in the Med sea a few times.  the days are warm and the nights are cool  need a cover.  I washed some clothes today  they dry fast in the warm dry climate.  I lost my watch but that is a small matter  I am glad to still be alive  We are all hopeing for the time when we will be home and the war over.  Hope you have no big problems of your own.
