U.S. INFANTRY CAMP CROFT. S.C. Sun 26 [1942] Dearest: - Your air mail letter came yesterday the 25 it was postmarked 11:30 PM the 23. I got a letter from Freddie it was postmarked 10:30 AM the 23 they both came yesterday I got it at noon you can compare the time not a great lot of difference. Freddie wrote a long letter it was a good one told a lot of things I would like for you to call him up. tell him I liked it very much & will write onother some time. As for comming down here I don't think it would be very good. it is so blasted hot & they say next month is worse I'm afraid mother would have a hard time. 1000 miles is quite a long trip that would be quite a drag on her during hot weather. I know you could stand it all night. I don't have much time off yet that I can leave camp.
