Saving...
is in the army somewhere. Do you know where and have you heard from him? I wrote him at the college about 3 or 4 weeks ago- didn't know his address, but presumed he received it. Had return address on it, and it hasn't returned. Maybe he'll get around to write sometime. Have you been home yet? These long war-time summer days you could make the round trip one day, I spect. Fear we won't get there this summer- our tries are good, and plenty of gas in Texas so far. But "they" seem to discourage unnecessary travel, and it is quite a long trip. I really did want to go this year tho'- I still do- the folks are getting old, and anything might happen. Have a nice garden so far- hot winds yesterday and today are hard on it, but we irrigated it last night. Seems like there isn't much I can do to help the "war effort"- just raise a few potatoes for home use. Young men are almost a minus quantity in this county, all in service and mostly thru volunteering, and everybody buying stamps and bonds until they feel it. But as for Red Cross work, and first aid- this county seems to be far behind. Of course towns are small, population sparse. What rating does Lloyd have? Seems here of late they're rather changing their policy about family men- to be deferred as long as possible. Wonder what is policy concerning the bachelor brothers who are farming? Darling, write us.Love, Freda
