Six o'clock and no Dr. was bad, but guessed she wouldn't have to explain that to me. He'd never have been satisfied not to go and she was glad she'd worked through the idea to accept it better than she did. It is so hard on families I don't see how all nations can keep up enough morale to run wars; but we can never have our families the way we want if Hitler's ideas were allowed victory. The same old (?) we've travelled over before. She says the talk they hear now is the end of the war in a year and a half. I hope "they" are right and if possible are erring on the side of too long a prediction! War news has been good. I imagine you hear a more reliable report than comes here, so I'll not try to write about that. I am swamped with work at the office and I seem to be in a spell of very slow progress. It was always so as our work is unpredictable. I had a sanity hearing today on a poor fellow from a flop house. Pathetic fellow. Things like that cut into time planned for desk work on reports.
