Saving...
Mrs. Lloyd David 817 - 19th St S.E. Cedar Rapids, Iowa Maurice Hutchison Navy 8140 San Francisco February 23 1943 Dear Francis, Your V mail letter and the box arrived last Saturday. Tis the first I've heard from you, as the other letters are enroute somewhere. It seems that twenty days is about the minimum time for mail to this base. There is no telling where ships might go on their way here. V mail is quite satisfactory, and much shipping space is saved. The box arrived in good shape. Thanks for sending it. However, I don't expect or need to have any more sent as the mail is crowded and out stay here is indefinite. Is Lloyd still in the States? You said he was about to be travelling. Naturally we are having summer here in the South Pacific. It seems that you still have real winter weather. It's nice to have your neighbor shovel your drive. Who is in the house with you? So far as I know, Bess has the insurance certificate. My number is 620-72-34. Guess that is not important. We were told it would be several months before the beneficiary received the polity. What chance is there that Lloyd might get a war job and live at home? Suppose there is something if he should be given a chance to do that kind of work. It seems that all the family are as usual. I am well. Things here go on much the same. Hope your letters get here eventually. Write when you can. Love, Maurice Maurice Hutchison [illegible]
