Saving...
817-19 St SE Cedar Rapids, Iowa January 10, 1943 Dearest, Here I put 42 instead of 43 down the first time again! You'd think I was trying to make out that I was a bride of 9 days instead of a year and 9 days! That would be bad, because we'd be cheated out then of all the good times we had last year. It seems longer than a year and lots more good memories than it seems possible for one year to have contained. I didn't do much today. washed a batch of clothes about noon. I was late getting up for I had fortunately, even if strangely, been able to sleep late. I haven't had such good sleeping lately so I was glad to take advantage of it. Cleaned up the ice box and did several meals dishes so with scrubbing the stove I had quite a job. was wearing my scrubbing shirt and slacks when Miss Gardner came. Had a nice little visit with her then she went on the Prichards. Mrs Prichard is sick. Lenore and Lumie came in we had find visit. They didn't stay so awfully long; were late coming and had to go home to do the chores. They brought me cake and eggs. They seem to like to visit here and they behave themselves so it is good. They ask all kinds of questions likes usual. Not personal so much but stuff like whether German should be taught in schools? Rationing? And so.
