Saving...
10. I went to Cong. Church. Remembered you of course. If you can be the returning veteran in as good shape as Maurice I'll certainly be thankful. You and he are special to me. While I don't forget to leave out others, I'm especially concerned in my meditations for you. I'm proud you are so good and gentle and tough. You love me and care for me better than I ever expected to be treated. I don't want to do or say anything that will cause you to feel badly or will make pain for our love. Oh laddie, I can't make the pen say the good things so they sound genuine like they are. I love you. Joanie + Bill have retired. Leone and Jack are gone. It is bedtime and some to spare. I made the cake, like I mentioned on the first page, and it turned out good. I wish I'd been making it for you. The weather is still like spring. It is unbelievable for Iowa in January. A big contrast to two years ago. (How well we remember two years ago now). The job is going a little better now that we got enough funds to run the nursery at least until May 1. whether we have funds or not for the center, I'll have lots of work to do as far as all present appearance are concerned. Please write me as soon as you receive this letter and tell me how I stand. Did you receive the cable I sent Dec 30? If so, when. I love you, laddie. Our happiness will be indescribable when we are both home again. Goodnight and love, Laura
