817-19 St. S.E Cedar Rapids, Iowa January 30, 1943 Dearest, Another Saturday night. I wonder where you are, and if you'll have a chance to phone tomorrow morning. I don't put any hopes on it, but it would be wonderful. Slept almost 2 1/2 hours this afternoon and then went down town with Hazel. The result was no housework done. Miss Mc Giverin's kin were sick and she couldn't come. we even ate supper at Bishop's so you see we have a big session down town. And the amount of money we spent was surprisingly little when you considered we were downtown four hours. It was mostly small things we never have time to round up when we stop a minute during the week. Combs etc. I got a basket for the mail; that is just bait to see if I'll get any mail! That old cloth basket is really disreputable by now so I
