817-19 St. S.E Cedar Rapids, Iowa February 14,1943 Dearest, Sunday evening and I have seated myself to write my laddie another letter. Of all places to be, I'm at Mrs Hamptons. She is the sort of house mother for a [Car?] sorority apartment. you know they have club rooms and Mrs. Hampton is that older in years visitor they hired two years ago. She is feeling pretty bad as her son goes Feb 23 to air corp. She has a high school girl to support and Bob has been helping her since he graduated from high school as he has been working at Iowa Mann. he is a nice and an intelligent kid and has been in the reserve several months although he's not nineteen. Mrs Hampton & I ate at KV Cafe in Marion as I wanted to get a little variety some way and so dreamed up that project. I'm ahead on [my gos?] so could travel that far.
