Saving...
817-19 St. S.E. Cedar Rapids, Iowa February 21, 1943 Dearest, This is your second letter today. The other one is on the smaller paper. Today is a very pretty day. That is a very pleasant change. The radio is going now but static gets it if I don't tend to it closely. Ardyce surprised me by a call this morning. She is home for the week-end as they had tomorrow promised off. We are working here. But she was fortunate as it is the only holiday she'll get and it comes on Monday so she had time to come home. She is in S.C. now seeing Kathryn Montagne who had to do her shift at Psychopathic desk today. Someone of the social work staff has to be there every Sunday and it was Kathryn's day today. They will have supper together and then Andy thinks she will be back on and early trolley and she will come out here this evening to visit. I hope she makes it as I so enjoy her company. Alberta mentioned Bobby's divorce to me but there was nothing to say. I'm sorry too. Her remark was that she did what she could to help and now she couldn't advise. Bobby wants to go to college now. She said she had lived for the idea he would go to college. She'd like him to be a lawyer. He is not material to be a lawyer in my opinion and so such an ambition is pathetic. The army will have him a couple months if he passes the physical tests. I am sure Dr Steele the psychiatrist could help Doris and Bobby. They went with each other so long. Even if he isn't mature and probably never will be, a divorce won't fix up the situation.
