Saving...
3 Leone called tonight. She just got their second ration books. The food values assigned to canned goods were much higher than we all expected. It is most unfair in that hoarders were favored. I don't mean because hoarders would be dishonest and not report stuff; the system came out so that a hoarder could be very honest and report every single thing and still be way ahead in the end. Patriotic people and those who didn't have the money for advance buying are not getting a fair break. But I'm not sorry I didn't buy heavily. There is no sense to sacrificing for the army the bearest person in the world and then hindering the war effort at home. Mrs. La Plante is one of the famous (or infamous) examples of the town on this score now. I'll maybe get to the school house for my book tomorrow night.
