2 I got a pair of rubber soled cloth sandals today. They will have a lot of wear for slacks and such, and are not yet rationed. Although red, white and blue they aren't as gaudy or prominent as one would think. I've had heels fixed on my work shoes at that shop on 12th Avenue where you took your work shoes. He does a very good job I think. War news from the Pacific is wonderful today, Every day like this we can have the sooner you will be home. The furnace is going fine and the house is cozy. I burned only a few pieces in the fireplace tonight but it lasted a long time and was pretty. Neither of the girls ever saw the hearth glow we use.
